Why This Exists

This world was initially built because of Renee’s love for music. But as this world develops, it becomes more about creating a space for people to reconnect with their voice, humanity, joy and each other.

Ultimately, the healing of the individual is inseparable from the healing of the collective.

About Renee Alexander

Renee Alexander writes songs like someone lighting candles in a dark room: the quiet, uncompromising light of the flame illuminates the parts of ourselves we were taught to hide.

Inspired by beauty, education, and the quiet complexity of human stories, Renee creates music that lives at the intersection of science, intuition, healing, and poetry. Her artist name reflects that duality: “Renee,” representing intuitive fluidity, paired with “Alexander,” chosen for its grounded strength. That balance between softness and solidity runs through everything she creates: the river and the riverbed. Emotions, intangible and unruly at times, are corralled into the structure of a song and alchemized into beauty: Renee Alexander.

Influenced by writers and thinkers like Robin Wall Kimmerer, Martha Beck, and Tricia Hersey, Renee is fascinated by the relationship between body, spirit and story. Like Kimmerer, she is drawn to the marriage of science and poetry. Like Beck, she trusts both intellect and intuition. And like Hersey, she believes rest, softness, and reclaiming ownership over one’s body can be deeply radical acts.

Before music returned to her life, Renee spent nearly a decade disconnected from her creativity. An early childhood speech therapist by trade, she spent years helping others find their voice while gradually losing touch with her own. The scene of the shift was itself like a poem: facing the impossible decision of whether to leave or stay in her first marriage, Renee sat on a riverbed, contemplating the ripples and the currents.

After spending months trying to think her way through the decision, she finally reconnected with the wisdom in the sensations of her body. Truth is often portrayed as a triumphant moment of fanfare and festivity; the reality is that truth often emerges as a terrified whisper with no witness. The decision was made; the songs instantly returned.

The morning after, she stepped into her favorite place to fall apart: the shower. Inhaling the steam, relaxing into the gentle relentless tapping of the warm water, she experienced what she describes as “someone putting an eyedropper directly into my brain.” A fully formed song arrived all at once - melody, lyrics, emotion - like a part of herself that had been waiting years to speak. From there, the floodgates opened.

What followed became an album tracing the emotional terrain of divorce, self-reclamation, healing, and learning to love again. Her music doesn’t deal in simple villains or easy resolutions. Instead, Renee explores the gray spaces: power dynamics, grief, tenderness, survival, accountability, desire, joy, and the complicated process of becoming whole again.

Nature flows through her work as both setting and metaphor. Late summer sunlight filters through trees. Soft green moss covers cool rocks on the forest floor. Indigo skies frame a winding country road; windows down, the wind blows in your hair. Her songs feel lived-in: overheard truths between women in kitchens, whispered realizations on dance floors, or a difficult conversation made bearable by a quiet, moonlit walk.

Renee's work is grounded in the belief that awareness alone is not enough. We can spend years understanding ourselves, unpacking our stories, and gathering wisdom—but that wisdom means little if it never extends beyond us. For Renee, healing must not exclusively be a solitary pursuit. The healing of the individual is inextricably linked to the healing of the collective, and vice versa. Every act of self-discovery becomes an invitation to create more compassion, accountability, justice, and connection in the communities we inhabit.

That philosophy sits at the heart of everything she creates. Through her music, writing, and community-building, Renee Alexander is creating an empire of joy built on beauty and rage: beauty for what is possible when people reconnect with themselves and each other, and rage for everything that silences, diminishes, or disconnects us from our humanity.

At the center of Renee Alexander’s music is one enduring belief: our stories can become medicine. The truth, when we are brave enough to look at it, will heal. Through emotionally rich, poetic songwriting, she creates space for listeners to reconnect with the silenced parts of themselves, inviting the listener to contribute their gifts back to the world. Survival is not enough - it’s time to heal, reclaim joy and remember what it feels like to be fully alive.
